It was Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs who emerged victorious in their highly anticipated matchup against the New England Patriots on Monday, 26-10. The defending champions have now moved to 4-0 to start the new season, and in the process, made a bit of NFL history.
After the game, Mahomes took to Twitter to share his reaction to what was another W for his side:
A win is a win! How bout that defense tho! #4-0 #ChiefsKingdom

Starting out the campaign strong has been a trademark for the Chiefs over the past few years. To be exact, this is the fourth consecutive year that KC has won their first four games of the season — a feat that has never been done in the entire history of the league.
As Patrick Mahomes said in his tweet above, it wasn't exactly the glorious victory they were hoping for against New England. The Chiefs looked stagnant to open the contest, and they weren't able to score a touchdown until after halftime. They may have ultimately gotten 26 points on the board, but there's no denying that it was a lackluster performance from the champs.
The undermanned Pats were without star quarterback Cam Newton, who himself tested positive for COVID-19 over the weekend. However, New England was still able to give Kansas City a lot of trouble throughout the evening.
It is also worth noting that the Chiefs have now extended their winning streak to 13 consecutive victories, dating back to Week 11 of the 2019-20 campaign. Clearly, Mahomes and the Chiefs are on a mission, and despite the rather pedestrian showing on Monday, their ability to scrap out a victory speaks volumes of how impressive the squad truly is.
