Patrick Mahomes finished his night 19-of-29 for 236 yards. It obviously wasn't the best night for the 2018 NFL MVP. But the Chiefs, which never trailed throughout the game, still managed to stay undefeated despite starting out slow as they usually do against the Pats. Kansas City finished the first half without a touchdown, but picked it up in the second half, scoring their first touchdown late in the third period.
It was certainly a valiant effort from the undermanned Patriots. New England needed to lean on journeyman Brian Hoyer to start the match. They eventually started second-year player Jarrett Stidham in the second half.
The Pats were without star quarterback Cam Newton, who tested positive for COVID-19. This was supposedly a marquee match-up with the two star QBs leading the way. Unfortunately, positive COVID tests from both squads forced the league to postpone the contest to Monday.
As for the Chiefs, they became the first team in NFL history to start a season 4-0 or better in four straight years.
