The Kansas City Chiefs have already ruled Patrick Mahomes out for Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers, but they won't commit to doing the same for next week's contest. According to Ian Rapoport, there is a “realistic” shot that Mahomes will return in Week 10 versus the Tennessee Titans.
The gunslinging quarterback sustained a dislocated kneecap after having his leg landed on while taking a quarterback sneak. When the pile dissipated, Mahomes remained on the ground in excruciating pain.
The entire fan base of the Chiefs held their breath as their franchise quarterback made his way to the locker room. Mahomes was immediately ruled out for the remainder of the team's Week 7 game versus the Denver Broncos.
Remarkably, it was discovered that Mahomes avoided any ligament damage and he only dislocated his kneecap. Following his official diagnosis, his original timetable to return was placed at three to six weeks. Instead, it appears as if Mahomes is defying the odds and is nearing a return sooner rather than later.

Despite his progress in practice, the Chiefs are taking a cautious approach with Mahomes. With Mahomes being ruled out, Matt Moore will get the nod as the team's quarterback in Week 8.
Moore was thrust into the offense in Week 7 when Mahomes went down and he performed pretty well. The veteran quarterback completed 10 of his 19 attempts for 117 yards and a touchdown. Above all, Kansas City won the game 30-6 over the Broncos.
Regardless of what happens in Week 8, the Chiefs can look forward to getting Mahomes back under center in the near future. Mahomes has shown his superhuman abilities on the field and now he's showing those abilities with his recovery from injury.
