Free agent cornerback Ronald Darby is expected to meet with the Kansas City Chiefs on Wednesday night, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. Rapoport adds that the meeting could end in a deal given the fact that the Chiefs have significant interest in Darby.
Darby spent the 2018 campaign with the Philadelphia Eagles, playing in just nine games as a result of suffering a torn ACL midway through the season. During the time he was on the field, he registered 43 tackles, an interception, and 12 passes defended.
The 25-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Florida State University, was originally selected by the Buffalo Bills in the second round (50th pick overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft.
He appeared in 15 contests during his rookie campaign, finishing with 68 tackles, a couple of picks, and 21 passes defended. Then, the following year, Darby participated in 14 games and recorded 69 tackles and 12 passes defended.
In August 2017, the Bills traded Darby to the Eagles for wide receiver Jordan Matthews and a third-round draft picks.
Darby then went on to play in just eight games during his first season in Philadelphia due to a dislocated ankle. He ended up totaling 34 tackles, three interceptions, and nine passes defended.
The Chiefs are coming off of a season in which they won 12 games and captured the AFC West division title while also locking down the top seed in the conference. They then defeated the Indianapolis Colts in the Divisional Round of the playoffs before losing an overtime thriller to the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game a week later.
