Hill was entering the final year of his contract that was set to pay him a little over $2 million, and with the extension, he now has some long term security. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the three-year deal includes $35 million in guaranteed money.
There were some questions about what direction the Chiefs would go with Hill after the offseason he has had. On the field, there is no doubt he is one of the best wide receivers in the league, but off the field, he does carry some baggage with him.
Article Continues BelowThere was leaked audio this offseason from Hill and his fiance, Crystal Espinal, where they allegedly discussed abuse of their three-year-old son. He was investigated by the Sherrif's department and by the league. After a four-month investigation led by Roger Goodell's office, the league office couldn't conclude that Hill violated the league's personal conduct policy.
In December 2014 before Hill was with the Chiefs, Hill punched and choked Espinal who was pregnant with their son. He pleaded guilty to domestic assault and battery and was given three years of probation.
Since rejoining the team, Hill has said all the right things so hopefully, all the issues are behind him in his personal life, because on the field he is a game-changer for Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs offense.
With three more years locked up, expect to see many more long touchdowns from Mahomes to Hill.
