In the days heading into Thursday's game against the Los Angeles Chargers, Kansas City Chiefs Pro Bowl wide receiver Tyreek Hill has been dealing with a nagging foot injury.

This put his status for the contest into question, but he has continued to take strides forward with his participation on the practice field. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Hill is now expected to play against the Chargers.

This should have been expected given that the week began with head coach Andy Reid voicing that he anticipates Hill playing against Los Angeles. This was followed by him taking part in practice where he was able to both run and cut on his injured foot.

Hill has been a primary piece of the puzzle of the Chiefs’ offensive game plan as their primary target in the passing game. He is currently in the midst of a career-best campaign where he has 74 catches for 1,258 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns. Hill ranks second in the league in receiving yards, fourth in touchdowns, and has five 100 receiving yard performances. He has been the spark plug to the offense with his big-play ability that has led to game-changing moments throughout the season.

The 24-year-old had success earlier this season against the Chargers in the 38-28 season-opening win, securing seven out of eight targets for 169 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. This included a 58-yard touchdown reception that shifted the tide in the Chiefs’ favor.

Hill should once again play a major part in the passing game against a formidable challenge in the Chargers, who are currently seventh against the pass and with 7.1 yards per attempt. Despite him being expected to play in the contest, the Chiefs will continue to monitor Hill closely prior to the game.
