The Kansas City Chiefs had been seemingly optimistic about wide receiver Tyreek Hill's status for Week 5 against the Indianapolis Colts. Unfortunately, it appears he is not yet ready to make his return.

According to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, Hill has been ruled out versus the Colts.

Chiefs’ HC Andy Reid said WR Tyreek Hill will not play Sunday night vs. Colts.

Hill has been sidelined since the 2019 NFL season opener while dealing with a clavicle injury. The update may come as a disappointment to some after he was able to make his return to practice this week. Regardless, it appears Kansas City will be taking an optimistic approach with his recovery.

With Hill out, quarterback Patrick Mahomes will need to make the most out of his current receiving corps once again. Fortunately, Mahomes is confident that he and Hill be able to pick up where they left off once he makes his return. It seems both will have to wait one more week before that can happen.

Hill's absence has left a rather notable void in the receiving corps. Although there is no shortage of foot speed in this group, there are few wideouts in the league as explosive as he is. It is safe to say that this solid Colts' defense is breathing a sigh of relief knowing they will not have to account for his speed at all times.

Given the expectations for the Chiefs this season, it is clear that they are looking to avoid potentially aggravating Hill's injury by taking it slow for another week.
