The Atlanta Falcons haven't had the best of luck this year, but that was almost set to change on Sunday surprisingly against the Kansas City Chiefs. The Falcons held a 14-10 lead heading into the two-minute mark in the fourth quarter, but Patrick Mahomes wasn't prepared to let his team fall to a then-4-10 Falcons squad.

Mahomes delivered a clutch touchdown pass to Demarcus Robinson to take a 17-14 lead, which would end up being the final score of the game.

The Falcons had a chance to cement their fifth win of the season on Sunday on the same drive as the Robinson touchdown. Mahomes had nearly thrown an interception to the Falcons' defense before ultimately being bobbled and dropped.

Even after the score by Robinson, the Falcons had another chance to even things up with a game-tying field goal. But in typical Atlanta fashion, even the crucial 20-foot field goal was botched, offering the Chiefs their 14th win of the season.

If there's any silver lining for the Falcons, it's that their embarrassing season will be over shortly with only one game remaining against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Jan. 3. They're out of playoff contention as it is, which can help them set their sights on the moves that'll be necessary for the offseason to become successful once more.

Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce set a new NFL record for most receiving yards by a TE in a single season on Sunday, too.
