The Kansas City Chiefs hosted the Cincinnati Bengals at Arrowhead Stadium Sunday afternoon. The AFC Championship Game went to overtime and the Bengals took home the win.

Kansas City put up 21 points before halftime and could only come up with a field goal in the second half. Many fans and members of the media considered the Chiefs' poor second-half performance as a choke. According to general manager Brett Veach, the Bengals relied on the Chiefs to self implode.

Chiefs beat writer Sam McDowell tweeted Veach's viewpoint Tuesday afternoon.

According to Veach, the Bengals' thought process was this: “the Chiefs biggest weakness is themselves, so let's just bank on them being a little bit aggressive and impatient.”

That's what he believes happened in the AFC Championship Game, which is a nice way of saying that they choked in the second half.

The Chiefs had the perfect opportunity to take the lead with less than a minute in the fourth quarter. However, Patrick Mahomes couldn't find an open target, forcing him to scramble, fall deep into the backfield, and get sacked for a loss of 17 yards.

This is just one example of the mistakes that were made by multiple Chiefs players in the second half. They had six possessions in the second half; four resulted in punts, one was an interception that led to a Bengals touchdown, and one was the tying field goal.
