After their win over the New England Patriots, Patrick Mahomes has led the Kansas City Chiefs to another 4-0 record to start a season. This is Kansas City's fourth 4-0 start in a row, which is an NFL record. Mahomes is just on another level right now and he's being treated as such.
On the daily Locked On Chiefs podcast, host Ryan Tracy was joined by Matt Derrick to discuss the Chiefs 4-0 start and how Patrick Mahomes finally gave the ‘Tom Brady Treatment' to the Patriots.
Ryan Tracy: You look at this game and you look at the way this turned out for Kansas City, Kansas City actually got gifted a play a little bit because Patrick Mahomes that interception or fumble, whatever you want to call it. They called the play dead but it looked like it was awfully early in the play. I think I heard that they called it an incomplete pass? That ball never hit the ground.
Matt Derrick: Yeah, there was some confusion on the broadcast. It was ruled a sack. Either way, that was a bad call too, it was not either one. It was a fumble and a clear recovery. That should have gone to the Patriots. You know what, the Chiefs have had some of those bad breaks in the past so I guess you give it to them. I'll tell you what, when you are winning and you've got Patrick Mahomes as your quarterback, you're going to get some calls. Things are going to go your way. So that to a degree was happening against the Patriots and that was exactly the kind of thing the breaks that the Patriots have gotten for the last 20 years. So I don't think you're going to hear anybody being too upset about that around the league.
Ryan Tracy: That's exactly what my notes say, to hear Boston media members and beat writers whining about Patrick Mahomes getting the Tom Brady treatment is laughable. Be better journalists is what I wrote in my notes. That's just ridiculous.
Matt Derrick: Yeah, I've seen that play many, many times going in the Patriots favor when they've got Tommy B. back there.
