Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has been officially revealed as the cover athlete for the Madden 20 video game.
It's no surprise to see Mahomes selected after he was named NFL MVP this past season, but this particular honor may not be one that Chiefs fans were hoping for.
The Madden curse has been well-documented at this point, and Mahomes will try to avoid being the next player to join the list.

Mahomes threw for 5,097 yards and 50 touchdowns in helping the Chiefs advance to the AFC title game, and he'll hope to help them take it a step further by reaching the Super Bowl next season.
Kansas City has seen some roster turnover this offseason, but there are plenty of newcomers that should make an impact right away, including recently-acquired defensive end Frank Clark.
Of course, the team will also try to address certain positions of need during the 2019 NFL draft, and there are plenty of options they could turn to based on where they are picking.
But the top priority will be keeping Mahomes away from the Madden curse.
If he's able to repeat his numbers from a season ago, the Chiefs may petition for him to earn this honor every season.
