Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes enjoys watching a baseball game and is- unsurprisingly- a fan of the Kansas City Royals. However, Mahomes couldn't help himself by giving props to Chicago White Sox pitcher Michael Kopech who was absolutely dealing to start Sunday's game against the Texas Rangers.
I know he isn’t on the right team but my guy is a monster! https://t.co/Q3ydXLIntI

Mahomes is all of us, isn't he? No matter what team you root for, sometimes you have to give credit where credit is due. Kopech's start to the game was unworldly as he struck out 10 Rangers hitters through the first four innings, which is ridiculous in and of itself. For that reason alone, Pat gave some love for Kopech even though he's not on the Royals.
Kopech would end up tossing five innings while giving up four hits and just one run and striking out 10 in an impressive outing for the White Sox. Clearly, Mahomes was just giving props, although the Chiefs quarterback might have rubbed some Royals fans in a bad way- especially given the fact that these two teams are rivals in the American League Central.
For Mahomes, he's just recognizing talent and terrific outings, regardless of teams. He said it himself that “I know he isn't on the right team.” Still, the Chiefs quarterback wasn't afraid to shout out the White Sox pitcher who was absolutely on fire to start the game for Chicago.
Patrick Mahomes is a regular in attendance at Royals games, which isn't a surprise given his stature as a Kansas City icon after leading the Chiefs to a Super Bowl win and signing a contract that basically ties him there for the next decade. Despite losing in February to Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the future is as bright as it could ever be for the Chiefs as they look to stay part of the AFC supremacy.
