The Detroit Lions continue to remain in the thick of the playoff picture heading into the final two weeks of the season. However, third-year running back Ameer Abdullah is growing more frustrated with his continually dwindling role within the offense, according to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press.

“It’s definitely frustrating,” Abdullah said. “It’s definitely something that I just want to take in and do my best to grow from it. That’s it.”

Abdullah has just 513 rushing yards while averaging a career-worst 3.4 yards per carry. His production has trailed off over the last three games, as he has failed to rush for more than 25 yards in each of them. During last Saturday's 20-10 win over the Chicago Bears, he was only given one carry for eight yards.

Meanwhile, undrafted rookie Tion Green garnered 10 carries for 35 rushing yards and Theo Riddick had eight carries for 49 rushing yards. It appears that Abdullah has fallen all the way down to the third spot on the depth chart.

Beyond Abdullah's struggles in the running game, the Lions possess the second-worst rushing attack in the league at 77.4 yards per contest and are last with just 3.4 yards per attempt. The final two games of the regular season could provide him an opportunity to prove that he should garner a larger role within the offensive game plan moving forward.
