Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen has been nursing an ankle injury throughout the week. Still, it seems like he is going to be good to go for his team's divisional round matchup with the San Francisco 49ers on Saturday.
According to Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, Thielen said that the last 48 hours leading up until game time would consist of “just focusing on what I can control and just trying to be as prepared as possible — obviously mentally, but just trying to get as close to a hundred percent physically as I can, and then let it ride.”
Thielen had a monster performance in the Vikings' wild card round victory over the New Orleans Saints, logging seven catches for 129 yards and coming up with a huge 43-yard reception to set up the game-winning score in overtime.
But as for whether or not he thinks he can put forth that type of outing again with a bum ankle?
“Yeah, I think so,” Thielen said. “I don't know, we'll see. We'll find out on Saturday.”
Well, Saturday has arrived, so we'll see just how effective Thielen is against the stingy 49ers pass defense.
This is also not the first time Thielen has dealt with an injury this year.
The 29-year-old missed six games during the regular season due to a nagging hamstring injury, limiting him to just 30 catches for 418 yards and six touchdowns on the year, by far his lowest production since 2015.
Minnesota will undoubtedly need a strong effort from Thielen on Saturday to advance to the NFC championship game.
