Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer will more than likely be the head coach once again next season, but even Zimmer does not know his future beyond next season. Most head coaches face a little bit of uncertainty when things aren't going near perfect, but Zimmer has had a lot of success with the Vikings since taking over the head coaching job and possesses 48-34-1 record. The Vikings have also appeared in the playoffs two of the five seasons that Zimmer has been the head coach.
There may be a little bit of speculation going forward for Zimmer's future, but as of right now it appears his job is safe. Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio spoke on the supposed speculation.
“Zimmer may not like the speculation, but the speculation lingers. At least he doesn’t have games for which the speculation could become a distraction; Harbaugh has been dealing with speculation regarding a potential trade for more than two weeks, and he has demonstrated no irritation or frustration with discussion regarding the possibility that, when the season ends, another team will try to Harbaugh him away from Baltimore.”
Coach Zimmer has brought his defensive mentality to the Vikings and in recent seasons they have been a top unit. Unfortunately, the offense looked out of sync all season and new quarterback Kirk Cousins did not look like his normal self. Perhaps this was just an offseason for the Vikings and they can back on track to their full potential in 2019.
