It has been nothing short of a frustrating season for second-year running back Dalvin Cook of the Minnesota Vikings that has been hampered by his struggles to work his way back from a hamstring injury.

This has seen Cook miss five games this season due to the injury including each of the last four straight games. Despite all of that, the 23-year-old has remained positive with a strong outlook that he will take the league by storm upon his return. (h/t Tim Yotter of 247 Sports)

“It’s a learning tool and I’ve just been learning through the whole process. Just been gaining knowledge from my teammates, all the older guys, the guys in my room, just been pushing me through it,” Cook said after Thursday’s practice. “I’ve been learning through this whole process and I’m just trying to become a better player and better person. That’s what I’ve been getting from the whole experience and it’s nothing negative. Yeah, I’ve been injured and banged up. But just learning through the whole experience. Once I get back, it’s going to be on.”

The hope had been that Cook would take off in his second campaign after he saw his rookie year end prematurely due to a torn ACL after just four games. He had shown plenty of promise in his brief time on the field as a legitimate threat in both the running and passing game.

This is an aspect of the offense that has been lacking for the Vikings as the team has struggled to have a strong presence on the ground ranking 27th overall through the first eight weeks. Latavius Murray has provided dependable production with 386 rushing yards and four touchdowns, but it hasn't been to the same impact

Minnesota won't have to wait much longer as Cook is expected to make his return to the field in the next couple of weeks, which will give them a huge offensive asset back into the fold.
