It appears as though there is at least a slim chance that the Manning brothers will reunite in East Rutherford — well, sort of. With Eli Manning still quarterbacking the New York Giants, future Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning has been rumored as a top candidate to take over as the general manager of the New York Jets.
However, Eli doesn't seem to have much inside information regarding his brother at this time — at least he isn't divulging anything just yet.
“I don’t know,” Eli recently told Tom Rock of Newsday. “I have not talked to him about that. I have no inside scoop on that.”
Peyton has been linked to a few front office roles since hanging up his cleats a few years back, but the longtime Indianapolis Colts and former Denver Broncos signal caller has yet to latch on with a team during his days as a retired player.
“Obviously we play the Jets [in the regular season] this year, but in that sense, I don’t know if there would be that much that overlapped,” Eli said of the possible crossover between the Giants and Jets in 2019-20, via Newsday. “I don’t think it would be strange.”
The Giants have continued to stick by Eli despite selecting former Duke quarterback Daniel Jones in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft. With Eli currently sporting just one more year left on his Giants contract, it remains to be seen what the future holds for both Manning brothers at this time.
