The New York Jets were reportedly on the verge of dealing safety Jamal Adams to the Dallas Cowboys near the Oct. 29 trade deadline. It seems in doing so they firmly managed to break any trust that was left between them and Adams.

There had been plenty of speculation regarding his future amidst all the rumors of trades the Jets were willing to make.

Jamal Adams took to Twitter to disclose what had actually gone down on his end:

Although Adams had made it clear that his desire was to remain in New York for the long haul, it appears the sudden willingness from Dallas to make a deal was too much to ignore. Reports indicated that they were willing to exchange a first-round pick in exchange for the Pro Bowl safety. However, it appears to have ultimately fell short of their asking price.

As a result, they are now left with a disgruntled Adams in the midst of their disastrous start to the 2019 NFL season. Despite all the turmoil, he has managed to put up some solid numbers in the 2019 campaign with 39 tackles, five pass breakups, and an interception, which he returned for a touchdown. However, it is hard to imagine this group improving after trading away one of their key pieces in defensive tackle Leonard Williams.

The betrayal of the Jets brass has undoubtedly left a bad taste in Adams' mouth. As a result, it is safe to assume that talks of him being traded will come up once again this offseason.

He is still in the third year of his rookie deal and has a fifth-year option for 2021.
