Jamal Adams still seems focused on being traded from the New York Jets before the 2020 season. While there's some uncertainty surrounding his future, Adams' teammates realize that the All-Pro safety deserves to get paid.

During an interview with SNY's Jeane Coakley, Avery Williamson discussed why he believes Adams deserves an extension from the Jets:

“Yeah, I mean, I definitely would love to see him back,” Williamson said in an interview with SNY's Jeane Coakley. “Jamal, he's a phenomenal player. I feel like he's definitely a top safety in the league. I feel like he deserves to get paid. I understand his frustration. He wants to get paid. He's had a phenomenal three seasons.

In his first three seasons with the Jets, Adams has accumulated 25 pass breakups, 12 sacks, six forced fumbles, and two interceptions. Therefore, after cementing himself as arguably the best safety in the NFL, Adams wanted an extension from New York.

Despite wanting to sign long-term, the Jets haven't shown any signs of wanting to get a deal done. Since Adams was taken in the 2017 NFL Draft, he still has two years remaining on his rookie contract. Even though Adams wants to be traded elsewhere, Williamson hopes to see Adams back with New York next season.

“Hopefully, he's going to stay with us. Hopefully, it all works out. You know, at the end of the day, it's a business. It's definitely a business and things don't work out like everybody wants them to, but I'm hoping that he's going to be a Jet for life and I've enjoyed playing with the guy. He talks a lot, but he backs it up on the field.”

As of this moment, there hasn't been much on the trade front for Adams. Regardless of where he suits up in 2020, Williamson knows Adams is deserving of an extension.
