The 2019 NFL campaign was a rocky one for New York Jets safety Jamal Adams.
In the middle of the season, Adams heard that the Jets were looking to trade him at the Week 8 deadline, which led to Adams going on a Twitter rant.
However, after the dust settled, Adams appeared to calm down, and now, general manager Joe Douglas is saying that “the plan is for Jamal to be a Jet for life,” according to Connor Hughes of The Athletic.
Adams played in 14 games this past season, registering 75 tackles, 6.5 sacks, an interception, a couple of forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, seven passes defended and a pair of defensive touchdowns en route to his second straight Pro Bowl appearance and his first First-Team All-Pro selection.
The 24-year-old, who played his collegiate football at LSU, was originally selected by New York with the sixth overall pick of the 2017 NFL Draft.
He had a tremendous rookie campaign, appearing in every contest and posting 83 tackles, two sacks, a forced fumble, two fumble recoveries and six passes defended.
Article Continues BelowAdams was then even better in 2018, once again participating in every game and racking up 115 tackles, 3.5 sacks, a pick, three forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and 12 passes defended, making the Pro Bowl.
Of course, the Jets have not experienced the same type of success as a whole.
Gang Green went just 7-9 in 2019 and has not made the playoffs since the 2010-11 campaign.
The good news is that it looks like the Jets and Adams may end up coming to an agreement on a long-term deal at some point.
