In just over two weeks, Pro Bowl quarterback Kirk Cousins will venture into the NFL free agency period for the first time in his career where he will attract plenty of interest. He has been long touted as being the top player at his position that will be available on the open market.

There has been much attention drawn to how Cousins will conduct his first experience of having the ability to choose where he wants to play. According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, the 29-year-old is expected to make a free agent visit with a team before signing a deal.

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Cousins currently intends not to agree to terms before making free-agency visits. Instead, he plans to take one or more visits after the free-agency period opens on March 14.

This has come to be expected given that this next move will dictate where he plays the next chapter of his NFL career for the next several seasons. Cousins clearly wants to get a great feel for the organization and what it has to offer both and off the field prior to making a decision.

It is a keen way of approaching the situation as it allows for him to make a well thought out choice where he has a strong sense of all the parameters for the team he will be joining in free agency. There are several teams that are expected to be in on him such as the Denver Broncos, New York Jets, Arizona Cardinals, Minnesota Vikings, and possibly the Buffalo Bills.

Beyond the salary cap space to give him a lucrative deal, each of these organizations must show that they are well run and prepared to take the next step forward with him under center. This situation has many factors in play, but it's evident that Cousins wants to take a thorough approach before deciding on his next home in the NFL.
