Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Desean Jackson has not been shy about expressing his high expectations for the 2019 NFL season. It appears he already has an idea of how he wants to kick things off.
Jackson does not want to waste any time showing what he and quarterback Carson Wentz are capable of. According to Martin Frank of The Delaware News Journal, he is admittedly anxious to start the year.
Article Continues Below“I don’t want to peak too soon,” Jackson said about his excitement. “It’s going to feel great. You can play it back in your head, you can think about it, you can visualize it. But until it happens to get the feeling out, to get the jitters, I’m sure I’ll be overanxious and be ready to go Saturday night and can’t wait 'til Sunday.”
Jackson's excitement is certainly understandable. He is returning to Philadelphia for his second stint with the team and is anxious to compete for a championship after watching them win the Super Bowl without him.
The speedster provides some much-needed firepower for Wentz in the passing game. It is safe to assume they will be looking to take the top off opposing defenses as much as possible this season. Jackson's comments indicate that he will be looking get it started in the season opener against another one of his former teams in the Washington Redskins.
There will be plenty of nostalgia for the veteran in Week 1 with the Eagles. With no shortage of motivation, Jackson could be poised for a big day in his return.
