The Philadelphia Eagles were able to kick things off in spectacular fashion with a 51-yard touchdown from quarterback Carson Wentz to wide receiver DeSean Jackson. It appears lightning has now struck twice.

Wentz managed to connect with Jackson on another 50-yard touchdown to help give the Eagles a 21-20 lead, via NFL on Twitter:

DeSean Jackson had already moved past Hall of Famer Randy Moss for the second-most 50-yard career touchdowns with his first grab. He is now just five shy of the all-time record set by Hall of Famer Jerry Rice with 36. His rapport with Wentz indicates he could be well on his way to reaching this total.

Jackson was not shy about expressing his high hopes for the homecoming in Philadelphia. He had indicated that catching a bomb from Wentz would certainly be an ideal way to kick things, however, he was hesitant not to jinx himself. Fortunately, it appears to have had the opposite effect after making it happen twice.

The 32-year-old was easily one of the more notable acquisitions Philadelphia made this offseason. There was plenty of optimism that the speedster would add an explosive dynamic to this offense thanks to his ability to take the top off of defenses.

Week 1 has provided plenty of nostalgia for Jackson returning to Philadelphia only to start things off against another one of his former teams in Washington. It appears the Redskins may have forgotten just how capable he is of torching the secondary.

His connection with Wentz so early on is a positive sign of what is to come this season.
