The Philadelphia Eagles managed to put a stamp on their trip to Super Bowl LII after an improbable 2017 season. Even right tackle Lane Johnson admittedly had some lofty expectations coming into the year, which prompted an unlikely promise to Eagles fans.
During the preseason, Johnson said he will “give out beer to everybody” if Philadelphia wins the Super Bowl. According to Steve Politi of NJ Advance Media, he has not backed away from his promise, and is even willing to pay out of his own pocket if need be:
“I really don't mind putting in my own money if we're going to a parade,” Johnson said. “Nobody expected it, but here we are. I'll be a man of my word. It'll be fun.”
After Johnson made his initial comments, Bud Light's Twitter page essentially made it official by promising to foot the bill.

While it is nice to see that Johnson is a man of his word, the clarity of his promise makes it hard to fathom how much beer he will actually need. It goes without saying that the “City of Brotherly Love” is rather passionate about their Eagles, which means a vast amount of fans can be expected to take Johnson up on his offer.
Given the team's odds against the formidable New England Patriots, perhaps a large amount of brew will be deserved should they win their first Super Bowl in franchise history.
