Running back Matt Jones is set to play for his third team heading into his fourth year in the NFL with an opportunity to possibly take the field for the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles.
Jones is entering yet another situation where he will have to compete for playing time in the crowded backfield that could be hard to come by. With that in mind, the 25-year-old has acknowledged that this may be his last chance to play in the NFL, according to Tom Moore of The Allentown Morning Call.

He is currently on a two-year, nonguaranteed deal with the Eagles that he inked back in May following a tryout for the team with three other players. Jones has a similar big body build to that of LeGarrette Blount, who had left in free agency for the Detroit Lions back in March.
This is a situation where Jones will likely have to find a niche like he has in each of his previous stops in his NFL career as he had proven most effective with the Washington Redskins. He had been off to promising start in the 2016 campaign with 460 rushing yards on 99 attempts, but a knee injury derailed his campaign and chances to secure the starting job. Things didn't work out in his favor with the Indianapolis Colts last season rushing for 14 yards on five attempts in five games played.
All of this has placed a tremendous amount of pressure on him to show the Eagles that he offers a different element to their backfield aside from what Jay Ajayi, Corey Clement, Wendell Smallwood, and Darren Sproles bring to the table. Training camp and the preseason could be huge in determining if he has a chance to stay for at least the 2018 season.
