The Pittsburgh Steelers are ready to roll with veteran quarterback Ben Roethlisberger going for one last ride at a Super Bowl title. With an offense full of talent, Big Ben is ready. However, the veteran is lobbying Mike Tomlin and the Steelers coaches to let him play in the preseason.
According to Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk, Roethlisberger wants some run in the preseason.
Article Continues Below“There’s a lot of newness. I think it’s prudent to get as much time as I can in under those circumstances. . . . It’s been how many months since I’ve stepped on a football field to take a hit or play. I know it’s preseason, but just meaningful types of reps. With the newness of it, I’d like to get as much as I can.”
That makes sense for Roethlisberger, especially being the tough competitor he has been throughout his entire career. He wants to get into a rhythm, so to speak, and might get his chance for the Steelers' second preseason game.
In their first two games, Roethlisberger didn't play a snap as they decided to let Mason Rudolph, Joshua Dobbs, and Dwayne Haskins battle for the backup jobs. But, after Big Ben's latest comments, don't be surprised to see him out there on Saturday night against the Detroit Lions.
