The Pittsburgh Steelers and Donte Moncrief agreed to a two-year contract early Thursday morning, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

While the terms of the deal are yet to be hashed out, Moncrief has a new home in Western Pennsylvania — playing for his third team in his six-year NFL career.

Pittsburgh went receiver shopping this offseason, and came out with a capable veteran pass-catcher in Moncrief.

The 25-year-old wideout should serve as the complimentary option next to Juju Smith-Schuster. Moncrief has sufficient mileage under his belt, being utilized as mostly a possession receiver — though he’s had occasional stretches where he embodies a No. 1 receiver with his speed and versatile route-running.

The Steelers, and more exclusively Ben Roethlisberger, have been known in the past for their successful experimentation at wideout. Thus making this an exciting and opportune change of scenery for Moncrief, as he approaches the critical stages of his career.

Moncrief was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the third round (90th overall) of the 2014 NFL Draft. He is coming off a one-year stint with the Jacksonville Jaguars and recently-released quarterback Blake Bortles.

Moncrief recorded the second-best total in receiving yards (668) of his career, appearing in all of the team’s 16 affairs.

The Steelers moved on from two of their biggest offensive weapons earlier this week in Antonio Brown and LeVeon Bell.

They traded Brown to the Oakland Raiders for draft compensation on Sunday morning, while Bell’s departure fell on Wednesday when he signed a four-year, $52 million deal with the New York Jets.

Donte Moncrief has hauled in 200 receptions for 2,543 yards and 21 scores over the course of his NFL career.
