Rumor has it that wide receiver Antonio Brown asked the Pittsburgh Steelers for a trade after a tumultuous week that featured a heated argument with Ben Roethlisberger, a Week 17 benching and an injury of which some Steelers players are questioning the legitimacy.

However, Pittsburgh head coach Mike Tomlin says that Brown did no such thing, according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.

That being said, Tomlin is clearly not happy with Brown and was cryptic when discussing what the future would hold for the two sides:

“Bottom line is we are playing a significant game and he didn't do a good job of communicating or being available in the hours leading up to that performance,” Tomlin said. “I'm not speculating on what life is going to be like going forward. What am I going to do is address the circumstances and then move on from there.”

Brown is in the middle of a five-year deal worth $72.5 million and has a 2019 cap hit of $22.1 million. So, cutting him is not an option, and trading him would also be a tall task.

Still, Tomlin did not seem entirely opposed to a trade:

“When you lack success, change is a part of it,” Tomlin said. “Part of moving forward is just wallowing in it.”

Does that mean Brown could possibly be on the move this offseason?

It seems unlikely, and the Steelers and Brown certainly have a long time to patch things up, but stranger things have happened.

Brown was named to his sixth straight Pro Bowl this year after hauling in 104 receptions for 1,297 yards and a league-leading 15 touchdowns.
