The Washington Redskins started off the 2017 NFL season looking primed to take that step back into the playoffs. Needless to say, it was not long before the team quickly crumbled after a slew of key injuries.

However, there may have been some more underlying issues that plagued Washington. According to Kimberley A. Martin of The Washington Post, cornerback Josh Norman attributes their struggles to a lack of team chemistry:

“That’s the frustrating part about it,” Norman said. “Because if everybody’s all in on something, then you be all in. But if you’re not, then let us know. If you want to do something different, then we can do that. We can do it in however way you feel — but we will be together. We will do things together.”

Norman has maintained his vocal leadership role since signing with Washington prior to the 2016 NFL season. It was even reported that the former First-team All-Pro had hosted many team bonding nights at his residence throughout the year.

However, as the Redskins' performance dwindled, so did the numbers of players that would attend Norman's get-togethers. That said, it is clear that that the tension started to translate onto the field with Washington missing the playoffs for a second consecutive year.

It was a disappointing season for the Redskins. However, Norman endured a tough campaign in 2017. He went the entire year without an interception while his nine pass deflections are the lowest of his career in which he has played at least eight games.
