San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is making his way back from a torn ACL, and it seems that he is fully recovered. He says he is “good to go” for the start of training camp, according to David Lombardi of The Athletic.
Garoppolo played in just three games this past season before tearing his ACL. During the time he was on the field, he threw for 718 yards, five touchdowns and three interceptions while completing 59.6 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 90.
The 27-year-old, who played collegiate football at Eastern Illinois, was originally selected by the New England Patriots in the second round (62nd pick overall) of the 2014 NFL Draft.
Obviously, due to Tom Brady's presence in New England, Garoppolo wasn't able to see much of the field, making just two starts and throwing a total of 94 passes during his tenure with the Patriots.
Still, there were many around the league who loved Garoppolo's talent, and in October of 2017, the 49ers swung a deal to acquire the signal-caller from the Pats for a second-round pick.
Garoppolo went on to appear in six contests and make five starts during his first season in San Francisco, finishing with 1,560 yards, seven touchdowns and five picks while completing 67.4 percent of his throws and posting a passer rating of 96.2.
The Niners then signed Garoppolo to a five-year, $137.5 million contract extension that ensuing offseason.
Obviously, the first year of that deal did not work out for either side, but now, Garoppolo seems ready to go for what will hopefully be his first full season under center.
