The San Francisco 49ers were apparently the mystery team involved in the Le'Veon Bell hysteria on Tuesday.

Following a day crammed with fabricated reports and fans of respective organizations going at each other’s throats, the Jets were victorious in the Bell marathon — as first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter early this morning.

The Jets locked the 27-year-old running back to a four-year, $52.5 million deal with $35 million in total guarantees, per Forbes.

The Baltimore Ravens who were reportedly the favorites at one segment of the frenzy, didn’t end up making an official offer for Bell. The Houston Texans and Chicago Bears also nosed into the conversations throughout the afternoon.

At another point, it seemed possible that we would see Bell join Antonio Brown on the Oakland Raiders, as they were heavily engaged in talks to keep the offensive tandem together in a new city not named Pittsburgh.

But even after all of that, hardly anybody was thinking about the San Francisco 49ers across the way, until after everything ran its course.

Wouldn’t that have been a shock to everybody if the 49ers had pulled off a last-second swipe?

Yes, but let’s move on.

This move between Bell and the Jets coincidentally occurred a few hours following the arguable trade of the offseason that sent New York Giants star wideout Odell Beckham to the Cleveland Browns.

As New York loses one, they gain another stud in Bell.

Let’s not forget that Saquon Barkley will be playing in the Big Apple for likely a very long time, as well.

LeVeon Bell forfeited $14.5 million by sitting out the entire 2018-19 campaign for the Pittsburgh Steelers — owning a career 5,336 yards and 35 touchdowns.
