Let's call The Rock — Dwayne Johnson — a San Francisco 49ers fan, because he seems to be pretty excited after the Niners' 37-24 victory over the Green Bay Packers to get them into the Super Bowl.
After the win, The Rock took to Twitter to congratulate the 49ers, saying:
“It doesn't matter! Much respect to the Packers and a huge congrats to my guy George Kittle and the entire 49ers squad & and the organization on the win! Helluva season, men. One more job left.”
The Rock shouted out 49ers George Kittle in particular. The two are noted friends, as the legendary wrestler, former football player, and world-star actor calls Kittle “The People's tight end,” a play on The Rock's wrestling days when he took the nickname “The People's Champ.”
Kittle is a noted wrestling fan. In Sept., the All-Pro tight end and a few of his teammates attended a “Smackdown” event at the Chase Arena in San Francisco. He plays the game like it's the WWE too, often using theatrics after the catch to match his fiery demeanor and play-style.
In 2019, Kittle tallied 85 receptions for 1,087 yards and five touchdowns in 14 games. His season earned him his second straight Pro Bowl nod and a first-team All-Pro appearance. Considered to be one of the NFL's few elite tight ends, he's the 49ers' top option as a receiver and a model for how a professional should block.
As The Rock points out, Kittle and the 49ers have one more game to be the champions. They will face the Kansas City Chiefs on Feb. 2 in Miami.
