Colin Kaepernick has been out of the NFL since last appearing with the San Francisco 49ers in 2016, but the quarterback still has hopes of returning, tweeting a video of himself working out and saying that he is “still ready”:

Kaepernick settled a collusion grievance against the NFL this year.
The 31-year-old has been one of the most controversial figures in sports over the last several years, as his decision not to stand for the national anthem has sparked heated, nationwide debate.
Kaepernick has maintained that the reason he is not currently playing for an NFL team is because he is being blackballed for his beliefs, and many have thrown their support behind the signal-caller, calling his claims accurate.
The Milwaukee native, who played his collegiate football at the University of Nevada, was originally selected by the 49ers in the second round (36th pick overall) of the 2011 NFL Draft.
He took over as the 49ers' starting quarterback midway through the 2012 campaign and went on to lead San Francisco to a Super Bowl appearance, where the Niners lost to the Baltimore Ravens.
Kaepernick maintained the starting job through 2014, but in 2015, he lost the job after eight starts as he struggled with six touchdowns and five interceptions while completing just 59 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 78.5.
The last time he was on the field in 2016, Kaepernick played in 12 games and made 11 starts for the 49ers, throwing for 2,241 yards, 16 touchdowns, and four picks while completing 59.2 percent of his passes and registering a passer rating of 90.7.
