Richard Sherman is a big part of the San Francisco 49ers defense but he claims that before he signed with his new team, he was offered a chance to be apart of the Monday Night Football crew with ESPN.
Sherman told Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area that during the 2018 offseason he was offered the analyst job that eventually went to Jason Witten.
But life outside of being a football player will have to wait. ESPN gauged his interest in retiring to enter the broadcast booth for “Monday Night Football” after he sustained a torn Achilles during the 2017 season. He was offered a lucrative deal to begin his broadcasting career, Sherman said.
Gauging interest in a lot different than getting an offer but according to Sherman ESPN did offer him a contract that he could have taken if he was ready to retire from the league.

According to Sherman's father, the former All-Pro knows that he needs to have a life after his playing days and that is why he is exploring these other avenues.
“He realizes there’s a lot more life after football,” Sherman’s father said. “He seems to be in preparation for that. He doesn’t know how long that’s going to be, but he’s making preparations.”
Who knows, maybe once Sherman does retire ESPN will have an opening and he will end up in the Monday Night Football booth.
