With their recent victory, the Denver Nuggets have notched their best 50-game start in franchise history.

After their 105-99 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans, the Nuggets have improved to 35-15.

This is their best 50-game start according to ESPN Stats & Info:

Their success this season is due to a confluence of things.

Perhaps the most apparent is Nikola Jokic's stellar play. The seven-foot 23-year-old is averaging 20.1 points per game, 10.3 rebounds, and 7.6 assists.

He's been the Nuggets' main orchestrator on offense. He utilizes his height, supreme vision, and basketball IQ to read the defense and make the correct plays almost every time.

It also helps that Jokic is surrounded by the likes of third-year man Jamal Murray who's also having a great year. Earlier this season, he exploded for a career-high 48 points. A definite sign that he's going to be a great offensive player as he gains more experience.

Apart from Murray, the likes of Gary Harris, Mason Plumlee, and veteran forward Paul Millsap have done their fair share of work to contribute to the team's success.

Last but not the least, head coach Mike Malone — who's in his fourth season as the Nuggets' head coach — has finally developed his own team after years of being an assistant in the NBA.

Slowly and surely, he blossomed the Nuggets' squad into what they are right now.
