Unlike most fans and pundits, Kendrick Perkins decided to take a different route in projecting the winner of Game 1 of the NBA Finals on Thursday night. Big Perk picked the Miami Heat to pull off a massive upset in the series-opener against Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets. Perkins dropped the ball with his bold prediction here, and naturally, he got clowned on Twitter for his erroneous take.
For starters, here's Big Perk with his confident take on how the Heat were supposed to defeat Denver on their own home court on Thursday night:
Perkins' prediction obviously fell short, with the Nuggets blowing out the Heat in Game 1. The contest ended with a final score of 104-93 in favor of Denver.
To be fair to Big Perk, he did admit to his mistake as soon as the game ended:
In spite of his semi-apology, Perkins still ended up getting clowned for his error. Former Nuggets head coach George Karl could not help but jump on the bandwagon as he called out Big Perk with a savage jab:
“When was the last time u were right, Perk? 😆” Karl wrote in his tweet.
George Karl may already be 72, but he hasn't aged a day in terms of his savagery. Kendrick Perkins can clearly attest to this as he turned out to be Karl's latest victim.
Nevertheless, Perkins remains unfazed. He still seems adamant that the Heat will be able to pull off one of the biggest upsets in NBA Finals history. I'm also pretty sure George Karl is taking notes.
