The Denver Nuggets are going to be exciting to watch this season. They have incredible players on the roster and an attractive style of play. However, most casual fans won't remember Michael Porter Jr. being on their team last year.

The 14th overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft didn't play a minute of NBA basketball and will be entering the season as a true rookie. Nuggets fans are anxious as to whether their gamble on him in 2018 would be worth it.

There's good news awaiting fans: he's already doing work on his game to fit the Nuggets' style of basketball. If everything works out, the Nuggets will have one of the most stacked rosters in the league.

“My role is going to be different playing with Nikola, playing with Paul (Millsap), playing with Jamal, Gary (Harris), all these guys who are very good players and can put the ball in the basket,” Porter Jr. said, per NBA.com's Christopher Dempsey. “I don’t have to rely so much on my scoring. For me, it’s a lot on the defensive end, rebounding, pushing and making plays for others. Learning to be effective and help improve this team, because we are a great team.

He was a highly rated recruit coming out of high school. However, his lone season in Missouri saw him only play three collegiate games, averaging 10 points and 6.7 rebounds a game.

With such a small sample size, many teams understandably passed on getting him into the team. Denver took the risk and will now find out if his talent was worth waiting for.
