The Denver Nuggets lost in five games to the Golden State Warriors in the NBA playoffs. Despite a strong series from Nikola Jokic, the Warriors were simply better. With no Jamal Murray or Michael Porter Jr. to help Jokic keep up with Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Jordan Poole, the Nuggets didn't stand a very good chance.

Porter's season was just about lost. He played nine atrocious games in the regular season before being shut down with a back injury. The 23-year-old was planning a return to action in March but instead missed the rest of the season, though he did get shots up on the court.

Porter admitted that he could have played this season at less than 100 percent. The Nuggets' young star said that rushing back would have been short-term thinking and that all he could have really done was stand in the corner and shoot.

When healthy, Porter is a fantastic shooter. He shot over 42 percent from deep in both of his NBA seasons and averaged 19.0 points per game last season. His scoring is extremely valuable and getting him healthy will be a key objective that the Nuggets will have to meet.

After this season, Denver will be committing over $145 million to Porter over the next five seasons. They will have to get him healthy in order to approach championship contention. Jokic, despite being an unbelievable talent, cannot do it alone. He needs scorers to finish off the amazing passes he throws. Porter's blend of shooting, size and athleticism makes him an ideal co-star.
