Denver Nuggets rookie Michael Porter Jr. — who sat out in his first year to rehabilitate from his back injury — believes that he's in the best shape of his young career.

Speaking to reporters during the team's exit interview, Porter Jr. admitted that he thought that his recovery period would be longer. However, he was was surprised that he's at 100 percent now.

“To be honest, going into the season, I did not expect myself to be able to play at 100%. But the way I feel now is leaps and bounds beyond where I thought I’d be at this point, honestly. I feel so good, and I work so hard every day with these guys. I feel like a better player than I’ve ever been.”

Porter Jr. was the 14th overall pick of the 2018 NBA Draft. He was one of the top-rated prospects in his batch, with analysts even tagging him to be a top-five or even a top-three overall pick. However, his injury history and concerns over his durability caused his draft stock to plummet in the weeks leading to the 2018 NBA Draft.

Wary of his health status, the Nuggets organization opted to redshirt Porter Jr. Now, it seems that the 20-year-old is more than ready to step foot in basketball's biggest stage.
