Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic knee injury gets critical update after collision with Rudy Gobert

Nikola Jokic Nuggets knee injury Rudy Gobert update

Denver Nuggets fans held their breath in fear during the game against the Denver Nuggets as Nikola Jokic collided with Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert.

The contact left the Nuggets star in a heap of pain while grabbing his right knee.

An image like that brings out the worst fears for any fan. Nikola Jokic looked like he was in serious discomfort and there’s always added concern when the knee is involved. The Joker was ruled out for the rest of the contest as the Nuggets fell to the Jazz 110-122 without their talisman on the floor.

However, according to Nuggets coach Michael Malone, the injury seems to be less ominous than it seemed.

Via Mike Singer:

“I don’t think it’s anything too, too serious,” said Malone when asked about Nikola Jokic’s injury postgame.

Malone continued that the decision to hold out Jokic for the rest of the game was more on the precautionary side, as the Nuggets were on the second night of a back-to-back.

With Jamal Murray still recovery from his own serious knee injury, the last thing the Nuggets need is for their MVP to be placed on the shelf as well. Nikola Jokic isn’t out of the woods yet, but it certainly sounds like they avoided anything season-altering for the time being.
