Denver Nuggets president Tim Connelly has given us a hint of how active his team intends to be in the upcoming draft. According to the high-ranking team executive, the Nuggets still have every intention of jumping in on the action despite the fact that they will not be selecting in either of the the two rounds of the draft:

“I just think we wouldn't be doing our job if we don't circle that night [as an important one], not just for the potential of getting into the draft and selecting someone [but also for] potentially making trades and augmenting our roster,” Connelly told Alex Labidou of Nuggets.com on Wednesday after his visit at Western Union. “I don't think it would be wise if you're not approaching that night as one of the biggest nights of the year for all front offices.”

The Nuggets gave up both of their picks in the draft in previous trade deals, which means the only way they will be able to acquire a new player on draft night would be via another trade.

If Connelly's intentions come to fruition, Denver will be able to further develop its already formidable roster. However, in the case they are unable to make any substantial moves on draft night, it should not pose as a big problem for the Nuggets, with their young and talented nucleus primed to maintain the team's status as legitimate contenders for the foreseeable future.
