Denver Nuggets big man Bol Bol looked to be heading to the Detroit Pistons last week but the trade was ultimately voided and it's now been revealed why.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Pistons found an issue in his physical, and turns out, Bol has a foot injury that will require surgery.

This is definitely far from ideal for the Nuggets center. He's barely played this season, featuring in just 14 games and for an average of 5.8 minutes per night. Going to the Pistons would've definitely presented a more increased role for the former Oregon standout given where they're at as an organization.

Bol was selected 44th overall in the 2019 NBA Draft by the Miami Heat, but his draft rights were then traded to the Nuggets. He's been mostly on a two-way deal with Denver and actually previously dealt with a foot problem in college, which forced him to spend time with the Windy City Bulls of the G-League after the draft process.

This is definitely not a huge blow for the Nuggets but for Bol's sake, it's unfortunate for his development. Hopefully, once he gets healthy, Denver can move him to another team where he gets more of a chance to be a consistent piece.
