On Friday night, the Denver Nuggets will play host to the Houston Rockets. Prior to their meeting, Denver guard Will Barton took the time to let ESPN’s Tim MacMahon know just how incredible he thinks James Harden has been this season. Barton had this to say:

“You can’t defend it. … I mean, he’s playing how I play in the summer leagues, where I can just shoot whatever shot I want. You add that with his talent and you can’t defend it.”

Barton's openness about Harden’s dominance this season is a testament to how much other players have been impressed with his play. However, his numbers do a lot of speaking on his behalf as well. Harden is averaging a league leading 36.3 points per game this season. He has also been putting up 8.1 assists, 6.7 rebounds and 2.1 steals per game to go with it.

His unstoppable play has been the number one factor in the Rockets’ ability to turn their season around and find success despite losing multiple players to injury at different times down the stretch of this season.

Just through the last two months of December and January, Harden and the Rockets have found a way to go 19-10 through 29 games, including putting up two win streaks of at least five games. James Harden is currently on quite the streak of his own, as well, having scored 30 or more points in 24 games now.

Will Barton is right that what James is doing is flat out incredible. There isn’t much you can do to defend or stop him, but the Nuggets will surely try everything in their power to at least minimize his effect as much as they can.
