The Ohio State football team hasn't had the on-field results that they are looking for in recent years, but they have been recruiting with the best of them. That is once again the case in the 2025 class.

The Buckeyes even started early on the 2026 class as they already have a commitment from the top player in said class. Wide receiver Chris Henry Jr. committed to Ohio State, but he might be exploring his options still as he has two visits set up.

“Five-star WR Chris Henry Jr. says Ohio State has ‘everything I want,'” Sam Spiegelman said in a tweet. “Henry talks the latest with the Buckeyes and upcoming summer visits to LSU and Oregon.”

This isn't an uncommon thing to see in college football, especially when a player commits early like Chris Henry Jr. did. He committed to Ohio State football back in July of 2023. He is a member of the 2026 recruiting class, and the 2024 cycle was still happening when he made that decision.

Henry has a lot of time to change his mind if he does want to commit elsewhere. He is taking these visits to LSU and Oregon, so there is a chance that one of those schools wows him and he wants to flip his commitment. You never know. Right now, however, it seems like he is fully locked in to Ryan Day and Ohio State.

This was a huge get for Ohio State as Henry is currently ranked as the top player in the 2026 class by 247 Sports. He is a five-star recruit and is ranked No. 1 in the country, No. 1 out of all WRs and the No. 1 player in the state of California. He currently attends Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, Calif.

Ohio State is a good place to go for WRs

Ohio State football is often called wide receiver U as they consistently pump out elite WR talent into the NFL. That is a big reason why Chris Henry Jr. decided to commit to the Buckeyes so early. He knew from the start where he wanted to be.

“I just felt like I was ready,” Henry said shortly after committing, according to an article from ESPN. “I was just tired of waiting; I already knew where I wanted to go. So when I went back there, it just already felt like home, and I already felt like this is where I wanted to be.”

As the top WR in the class, the Buckeyes wanted to land a commitment from Henry badly, and they made sure he was aware of that.

“They're just letting me know that I'm their priority guy,” Henry Jr. said. “Every time I go up there, every time we speak, they're just letting me know that I'm their guy, that they wanted me bad.”

Seeing the WR talent that has come out of Ohio State recently was big for Henry. He knows that the Buckeyes will give him a good opportunity to become an NFL receiver.

“It honestly played a big role because I see what they're doing now, and I like how they develop their receivers over there,” Henry said.

Ohio State football is obviously in a great spot with Chris Henry Jr. as they have landed a commitment from him, but it'll be interesting to see what happens with these upcoming LSU and Oregon visits.
