A leg injury will keep Ohio State backup quarterback Devin Brown out for several weeks, leaving some questions about the Buckeyes' QB landscape behind starter Kyle McCord. Ohio State football head coach Ryan Day did not provide clear answers with regards to who will serve as the chief backup to McCord when asked about it recently, per Bill Rabinowitz of The Columbus Dispatch.

Day is non-committal when asked about whether Tristan Gebbia is now the clear No. 2 behind McCord with Devin Brown being out. Freshman Lincoln Kienholz is challenging him. “We'll see how the week goes.”

Gebbia, a senior, has yet to see action this season for Ohio State football. In the 2022 college football campaign, he saw action in three games with the Oregon State Beavers, including in the Las Vegas Bowl against the Florida Gators in which he went 5-for-6 for 24 passing yards. Kienholz, on the other hand, is also yet to take the field in his first year in college.

“Tristan has really got a great understanding of what we're trying to do, and Lincoln's growing every day, I think he's got a bright future,” Day said in an interview with 97.1 The Fan radio Monday night (via ESPN's Adam Rittenberg). “So if need be, those guys will be ready to go.”

Ohio State football remains undefeated through seven games this season. In their most recent outing, the Buckeyes took down the Penn State Nittany Lions at home on Oct. 21, 20-12. A relatively lighter opponent is ahead of them on Oct. 28, with the Wisconsin Badgers meeting them in Madison.
