Omri Casspi showed everyone last year that he is one of the league's better shooters. He is very skilled at moving to the open spot and finding the holes in the defense.

This year, he has only been playing 15.3 minutes per game. That is not the amount he'd hope to see because he believes he could help his squad out a great deal.

“I don't feel like this system is ideal for me, but I don't think it's bad for me,” Casspi told CSN Bay Area). “It's pretty similar to Mike (Malone's) offense. I felt great in Mike's offense when Mike was here. I can help this team win and it might be here today and I've got to stay ready, it might be somewhere else so I've got to do what I've got to do.”

Casspi has reportedly requested to speak with Kings general manager Vlade Divac regarding his situation.

Current head coach Dave Joerger chimed in with his two cents on Casspi situations as well:

“He's a good shooter, a smart cutter, he loves Sacramento and he's been through some tough times here. So I know his heart is in it and it's a changing year for us in the organization what we're trying to do, and so sometimes his minutes can be sporadic.”

Despite his coach's explanation, Casspi does not feel like he is a highly valued asset on the roster.

“Dave is a new coach here and I don't think I was high on his list from the get-go, that's pretty obvious.”

Despite the lack of playing time, Omri Casspi continues to keep his head up and work hard day in and day out. One of the reasons he isn't playing as much as 36-year old Matt Barnes is the disparity in their defensive ability. Casspi has always excelled on the offensive side, but not so much on the defensive end.

So early in the season, despite the lack of playing time, Casspi realizes that there's a long way to go:

“I love Sacramento. You guys know that; 10 games won't change my mind … it's part of being in the NBA.”
