A 59-year-old surfer in New South Wales, Australia has died after being attacked by a Great white shark, per TMZ. The incident took place three hours from Sydney at Tuncurry Beach, where the Australian surfer was catching some waves and initially warned his friends about the sharks in the water. Ultimately, it was too late as the beast latched onto his thigh and caused some serious damage.

Authorities rushed to the scene to try and help the man but unfortunately, his injuries were far too serious. the Australian surfer died not long after the Ambulance attempted to rush him to a nearby hospital.

It's expected that a 13-foot Great White was involved in the attack. Witnesses at the scene said they've seen sharks swimming around the area for numerous days, but it was the first attack at this beach since 2016.

This is certainly a more common occurrence down under where Australian surfers tend to be the victims of deadly shark attacks. The last one actually happened in November, where a 55-year-old man was fatally attacked in the Western portion of the country.

Tuncurry beach will be closed for the foreseeable future. Luckily, no other Australian surfer ended up being a victim in this tragic turn of events.
