The Indianapolis Colts’ recent acquisition of quarterback Carson Wentz has led to some mixed reviews from the fans. Colts owner Jim Irsay, however, seems to be more excited than just about anyone after the trade for the former Philadelphia Eagles signal-caller.
In a press conference on Thursday, Irsay gushed over the addition of Wentz, as he believes the star QB could turn things around for the Colts next season (via Mike Florio of NBC Sports).

There’s good reason to believe it. You talk to people around the league and people that know, they’re going to agree with what I’m saying when they look at Chris Ballard and Frank Reich and the expectations going into this decade that we have for both of them leading the team.”
These ambitions will be music to Colts fans' ears, as they have endured a mixed bag of results over the past decade. Including Wentz, the team has had an impressive list of quarterbacks in recent campaigns, including NFL great Peyton Manning and Pro Bowler Andrew Luck. Last season saw the Colts finish with a 10-6 record with Jacoby Brissett under center and a wildcard playoff appearance against the Buffalo Bills.
Brisset signed a one-year deal with the Miami Dolphins, opening the door for the Wentz trade. The Colts sent their 2021 third round pick and a conditional 2022 second round pick to the Eagles in exchange for the quarterback’s services.
It is unclear whether or not Carson Wentz will be the long-term option for the Colts, but his addition has clearly made a positive impact on the attitude of ownership.
