As McConnell said, he will have to earn that spot once again. McConnell was a fan-favorite in Philadelphia. Philly fans loved him for his hustle, energy, and toughness on the defensive end despite his small stature. There is no doubt that Pacers fans will also love what McConnell can bring in for their team.
In his first four seasons with the Sixers, McConnell averaged 6.4 points, 2.9 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and 1.3 steals in 314 games with the franchise. He is also a career 48.7 percent shooter from the field.
The Pacers also inked former Milwaukee Bucks guard Malcolm Brogdon to a 4-year, $85-million deal this off-season. Likewise, sophomore Aaron Holiday is also looking to take a bigger role with the team this season. Brogdon will likely get the nod to start. So McConnell will probably have to compete with Holiday for the back-up point guard role.
