The San Diego Padres' pitching rotation has been one of the best so far in the entire MLB. During the first two games of the season, Yu Darvish new acquisition Sean Manaea shut down the Arizona Diamondbacks in their entire run, not giving up a single run. Their starting pitching is poised to be one of the best in the league this year.

However, they seem to have encountered a problem with one of their starters. Blake Snell, who was supposed to start for the Padres in their final game against the D-Backs, was yanked before the game even started due to an adductor injury. That same adductor troubled Snell last season, when he was shut down late in the year. (via Kevin Acee)

Snell is likely headed to the injury list, which is troubling for the Padres. With Fernando Tatis Jr. out for at least three months, the team needs their best pitchers to slow down opposing offenses. Snell has been struggling in the last few seasons, but he's still a capable body who has a chance to revert back to his old form.

After a disappointing 2021 postseason that saw them get knocked out in the Division Series against their rival Dodgers, the Padres are looking to bounce back. The team has the talent to go toe-to-toe against anyone in the league… if they can stay healthy, that is. Their pitching staff will likely give them a fighting chance in every game though, if they keep this torrid pace up.
